Some experiences divide life into before and after.

A diagnosis. A loss. A divorce. The death of someone you love. A moment that completely changes the way you understand yourself, your future, and your relationships.

For me, a series of moments that felt monumental brought me to where I am today.

Over the years, I’ve experienced divorce, pregnancy loss, cancer, grief, and the complicated process of rebuilding my life after each of them. Like many people, I discovered that surviving something difficult and learning how to live afterward are far from the same thing.

When I was diagnosed with Stage III lymphoma in 2023, I entered a world that quickly became familiar to many survivors. There were appointments, scans, treatments, milestones, and eventually remission. What surprised me wasn’t the treatment itself. It was not knowing how to re-enter my life as it calmed down. Not understanding who I was now.

We celebrate survival. We think we know how to rally around a friend or family member after a diagnosis. But far fewer conversations exist about the emotional, physical, and identity shifts that continue long after the crisis has passed.
This journey in my own life became The Survivor’s Edit.

The Survivor’s Edit began as a place to write about cancer survivorship. And it’s evolved into something much broader. Today, The Survivor’s Edit explores grief, resilience, relationships, loss, identity, and the ways life changes us when we least expect it.

Because cancer isn’t the only thing that creates a before and after.

My father lived with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a rare neurodegenerative disease that slowly changed the man I knew. Walking alongside him and my family through that journey taught me as much about love, loss, and grief as my own diagnosis did.

Professionally, I serve as Chief Operating Officer for a facial plastic surgery practice in Texas. Personally, I’m a writer, speaker, lifelong storyteller, wife, dog lover, and someone who has spent a great deal of time learning that growth rarely happens the way we expect it to. And that fascinates me.

The Survivor’s Edit exists for anyone navigating life after a major interruption.
For the newly diagnosed.
For those going through treatment.
For the survivors.
For the families.
For the people rebuilding.
For anyone trying to make sense of a chapter they never expected to write.

Welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
